Greetings! I am Tensie J. Taylor and am from a small town called Louisburg in North Carolina. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication—Media concentration—and a minor in Psychology, and from the University of Southern California in 2014 with a Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. I am Founder & CEO of TJT Consulting, a consulting firm I started after my many years of experience in recruiting top talent for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. I have recruited individuals for opportunities with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Creative Artists Agency, Netflix, Wells Fargo, and more. Through my coaching techniques, several of my former students have gone on to work for the Oprah Winfrey Network, Lifetime TV, Good Morning America, and have become medical doctors, dentists, musicians, teachers, and attorneys.
Prior to founding my company, I worked for the University of Southern California Black Alumni Association for seven years and served as Manager, Assistant Director, and Associate Director, respectively. I loved working with students and helping them achieve their academic and career goals. My work in helping students reach their goals translated into my next role as Consultant for an executive-search firm, where I listened attentively to the needs of my clients to find them top talent. I formed a strong rapport with many of my candidates and was successful in coaching them throughout the search process until an offer was made. I am blessed to help make people’s dreams come true!
I play piano and have played in Ghana, West Africa, Cuba, England, Germany, and Scotland. I also play trumpet, sing, and have traveled to 38 countries and 6 continents. One of my favorite quotes is by Mahatma Gandhi who said: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” I am the change I want to see in the world.
